Summary
Engineering leader with 12 years across product development, government digital platforms, cloud infrastructure, and engineering management. At MobiFone IT I grew a software department into the organization behind most “Made-in-MobiFone” products — spanning point-of-sale, e-invoicing, e-contracts, digital certificates, and accounting — which have generated nearly ₫20 billion in revenue over the last 18 months. Before that I designed and migrated private-cloud platforms to cut infrastructure cost, led delivery of a city eGovernment platform, and built web products in New Zealand. I’m comfortable owning the whole path from architecture and process to delivery and business results.
Selected Outcomes
- Grew MobiFone’s software organization from fewer than 10 to 30+ people — introducing Scrum, DevOps/CI-CD, and business analysis — now shipping a portfolio of revenue products.
- Nearly ₫20 billion in product revenue over 18 months from the Made-in-MobiFone portfolio.
- Migrated ~100 customers from legacy SCVMM onto a new OpenStack/Ceph private cloud, cutting infrastructure cost.
- Led delivery of important government platforms and advised solution architecture on large-scale projects with solid income.
Experience
Head of Software Development / Engineering Manager
Feb 2023 – Present
MobiFone IT
- Joined a small team of fewer than 10 and grew it into a structured software organization — introducing Agile Scrum, a DevOps team and CI/CD pipeline, a business-analysis function, and clear delivery standards.
- The team now develops most “Made-in-MobiFone” products — spanning point-of-sale, e-invoicing, e-contracts, digital certificates, and accounting — which have generated nearly ₫20 billion in revenue over the past 18 months.
- Grew the organization to 30+ people across product, development, QA, and DevOps.
- Partner with MobiFone business units across multiple Vietnamese cities to take the products into new markets.
Site Reliability Engineer · Cloud & Infrastructure
Jan 2018 – Jan 2023
Da Nang ICT Infrastructure Development Center (IID)
- Operated and evaluated three private-cloud stacks — VMware/vSAN, SCVMM/SAN, and OpenStack/Ceph — plus the data-center services around them (TrueNAS/ZFS, Nextcloud, Jitsi, and other open-source tooling).
- Stood up a new OpenStack/Ceph cloud and migrated ~100 customers off the legacy SCVMM platform, reducing infrastructure cost.
- Served as a solution architecture advisor on large-scale, high-value government projects — reviewing system designs, guiding technology and infrastructure decisions, and optimizing cost and total cost of ownership for scalable, reliable platforms.
- Became the team’s go-to engineer for complex hardware troubleshooting across storage, network, and servers (SAN, switches, disks), and was recognized among the organization’s top technical specialists.
- For a major client, built the server room end to end: hardware installation, private-cloud and software setup, and ongoing database maintenance and upgrades.
- Prototyped open-source video management and AI-camera access control for smart-building use (R&D).
Business Analyst / Project Manager
Mar 2014 – Dec 2017
Da Nang ICT Center
- Business analyst across the city’s eGovernment programme — eGov platform, citizen data management, and city service portals — gathering requirements and shaping workflows.
- Moved into project management and led the team to successfully deliver eGovernment Platform 2.0.
- Maintained the underlying Oracle databases (DBA) for these public-service systems.
Front-end Developer (part-time)
Jan 2013 – Dec 2013
Smartmind · New Zealand
- Built the end-user design editor for TapDealz — a lightweight, Canva-style in-browser tool for creating marketing flyers.
- Developed a company-review platform (star ratings, comments, admin summaries) and contributed to iTaxi, a ride-hailing app.
Education
University of Canterbury
2010 – 2013
BSc, Computer Science & Software Engineering · Christchurch, New Zealand
- Summer Research Scholarship (2012): implemented a Hierarchical Attack Representation Model (HARM) — simulating network topologies (zones, routers) and computing security metrics — for a PhD security-research project.
- 1st place, ACM ICPC New Zealand sub-region (2012) · 1st place, NZ Programming Contest (2010, 2012) · Top 50 (46th), IEEE Extreme 5.0 (2011).
